Departmental News - Book Publication Edited by Prof. Dr. Ekmel Geçer: Family Psychology: Theory, Practice, and Contemporary Approaches

A new book edited by one of our faculty members, Prof. Ekmel Geçer, titled Family Psychology: Theory, Practice, and Contemporary Approaches, has been published by Kapı Yayınları.

The family represents an individual’s first connection with the world, the primary context in which identity is formed, and one of the strongest foundations of psychological well-being. Family Psychology: Theory, Practice, and Contemporary Approaches is a comprehensive and original reference work that examines the family not merely as a traditional institution, but as a dynamic system continuously evolving in response to social change, digitalization, migration, crises, and emerging lifestyles.

Bringing together contributions from leading scholars and experts in the field, the book integrates theoretical knowledge with practical applications across a broad range of topics, including attachment, family systems, marriage, parenting, trauma, mental health, addictions, social policies, digital parenting, and the impact of artificial intelligence on family life.

Combining scientific depth with an accessible style, this volume serves as both an academic resource and a practical guide for psychologists, psychological counselors, social workers, sociologists, educators, students, and anyone interested in gaining a deeper understanding of family dynamics and relationships.

In today’s rapidly changing world, for those who seek to understand, support, and strengthen families, this book is not merely a volume to be read once, but a valuable companion to be revisited time and again.
